Pre-Game Report: First game against Unity FC

It’s time to go again! Harbourside is up against a new opponent this weekend, Unity FC. How will the teams size up against one another? It’s going to be exciting!

After a disappointing weekend in Kamloops, the women are looking forward to a new opponent. Unity FC sits middle of the pack in fourth, with two wins under their belt. They’re a high-scoring team. Aside from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy, they’ve scored the most goals - 11 overall. Despite the tough position the ladies are in, their gritty performances have not gone unnoticed. Jazmine Wilkinson was named one of League1’s forwards of the week.

Coach Taylor says the ladies are hungry. “We are looking to focus on ourselves and breaking the game into pieces where we can build play as a unit efficiently or close gaps quickly defensively. Training was super positive with loads of quality finishing this week so we’re excited to carry that into the game!”

On the men’s side, Harbourside and Unity sit quite close together. Unity is in fourth and the lads are in fifth, only one point behind. After their electric game in Kamloops last weekend, Harbourside is hyped and ready for more. Billy Bagiopolous’ performance and goal scoring that game earned him a spot on League1’s forwards of the week list. Check out one of his goals, assisted by goalie Callum Weir, on our Instagram

A note from Coach Lindo:

“This is a great opportunity for us to try and get some positive form and crack into the top four, so we’re really excited about it. However, we know they have some very good players and picking up a little bit of form themselves so should be a good game.”
