Last Game Report of 2024!

What a season! It was the first time in club history that Harbourside has sent a team to playoffs. In their first League1 season, which was only last year, the men took last place. With that in mind, what will the 2025 season have in store?

Midfielder Alex Dedame making his way through a group of TSS players last Friday.

The men faced TSS at Swangard last Friday, and although they played hard, like they always do, TSS took the win and will advance to the finals. TSS opened the game with a quick goal, but Charlie Purcell tied it up 6 minutes later. TSS’s lead was re-established soon after, and it was 3-1 by halftime. In the second half, Harbourside played tough and only conceded one goal. Midfielder Suka Behery is “very proud of the team and of what we achieved this year. A disappointing result in the semifinals, but we created a lot of chances that we should have scored. We came against a very good team. We definitely missed Billy up top.” Captain Fergus Hall also commented on the game:

“I’m just super proud of the boys and the season that we’ve had. I know we all feel like we could have gotten more out of the game today, but we hold our heads high and look forward to building on this season next year.”

Despite the loss, the men did not come home empty handed. Suka Behery won Top Men’s Midfielder of the Year and Kevin Lindo won Men’s Coach of the Year. Billy Bagiopolous won three awards - Top Men’s Forward, Top Goalscorer, and Men’s Player of the Year. Raking it in for Harbourside, congratulations! In a chat with Behery, he shared some kind words about Bagiopolous and their experience together this year:

“I’m really proud of what me and Billy achieved on an individual level and the awards we got. We connected really well on the field, all my 7 assists were to Billy. We lived together for the summer and we have been very close friends for the past 8 years. I’m very happy to have been recognized alongside him, and I'm really happy about him winning all three awards, no one deserved it more.”

The men’s League1 BC final will be between the TSS Rovers and Altitude FC. On the women’s side, the Whitecaps FC Elite Academy will face Burnaby FC.

Date: August 4, 2024
