A great weekend of soccer! The men had a breakthrough game against the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy, scoring three goals and getting their first win of the season. The women’s game was a close one - NUFC and Rise were tied by the three quarter mark. Rise snagged a second goal in the 75th minute and took the win, but the ladies put up a solid fight - the game could have gone either way.

WOMEN’S GAME
The Rise FC ladies were fast and fierce on the attack, but our ladies held their ground and created lots of chances. Victoria Cronkhite got her body in front of a corner kick (literally - the ball hit her back) and scored in the 71st minute to tie the game. Rise scored again shortly after, securing the win.
A few words from defender Mary Nicholls:
I think the Rise game was probably one of our best as a team so far. We were really connected, played with good energy, and just looked solid all around. It felt good to be out there competing like that, especially after how things went last time we played them. This time, it felt like a game we could’ve tied or even won, and that says a lot about how far we’ve come. We’ve got three tough games left, but if we keep showing up like that, we’ll definitely be in the mix.
Shout out to the women's player of the game, captain Kate Reynolds, and Lauren Grey - both defenders put on a clinic today and were back-line brick walls. The number of plays they stopped and deflected was insane!

MEN’S GAME
The game the lads have been waiting for! They’ve been putting in the work and to finally see results was incredibly exciting.
“We executed the game plan and defended really well as a team. We were also able to capitalize on our chances this weekend, which is something we’ve been working hard to add to our game,” noted captain Fergus Hall. “We’re just looking to continue with the momentum from this win and push for as many points as we can come the end of the season.”
RUN IT BACK
Check out the men’s goals!
Niklas Hallam the dribbling master - his quick touches started the play and ensured the ball got to Gabe Altomare (note his masterful shoulder check!). Gabe pinged the ball to Suka Behery and the rest is history.
Niklas Hallam once again found himself on the attack, centre field and in a great position to set up a play. Suka was also on the move once again and tried to capitalize on Hallam’s pass - his shot got deflected by a forward moving Charlie Smith was ready in the box and threw himself at the ball - goal!!
Hare-Goss with the insane throw in into the box - Fergus Hall with the goal!
STAY TUNED
3 games to go! The teams are away next weekend and are off to face Evolution FC. We’ll see you at the stadium the following week for the final home game against the TSS Rovers.
United!
