What a day! Q’unq’unuqwstuxw was bustling on Saturday - there were over 400 people in attendance for the final home game. Incredible! Thank you to everyone who came out to support the squads in their second to last battle of the season and for bringing some incredible energy to the stadium. The beer garden was bumping, the fences were lined with cheering squads - the energy was electric.

WOMEN’S GAME
The ladies dominated the first half. Ella Ashfield collided with a TSS defender, getting her body to the ball first, to score off of a beautiful corner kick from Ruby Nicholas. Ava Alexander solidified the early lead shortly after with a massive shot from well outside the box. Olivia Guild controlled the ball on the wing and tore up the left side of the pitch. She sent the ball into Ava, who was being heavily defended halfway up TSS’s end. Ava received the ball with her back to the net, but spun around and launched into attack mode. A few steps later, she had the space she needed and sent the ball over the keeper! An epic goal! Check it out below!
TSS put the afterburners on however and tied it up in the second half. The ladies held strong and ensured they kept one point.

MEN’S GAME
19 minutes in, Niklas Hallam received a long ball from goalkeeper Marko Ilich and set forward on a fierce attack. He launched the ball over the keeper from outside the box to put Nanaimo in the early lead that they held for the entire first half! Not bad against the top ranked team in the league! Like the women’s game, TSS found something in themselves in the second half and found the back of the net. The game ended 2-1 for TSS.

MVPS, UNSUNG HEROES
After the game, the teams met up at Wolf Brewing for a season wrap up. They have one more game next weekend, but Saturday felt like the time to celebrate the wins and the hard work of the season while everyone was around. With the 2025 varsity season just around the corner, players are gearing up and some are heading off to preseason training. It’s that time of year.
The votes are in and the MVPs of the season were announced Saturday evening at the festivities - Captain Fergus Hall and Lauren Grey, two solid defenders repping the squads. Ruby Nicholas, Ella Ashfield, Declan Brown, and Gustavo Giordani were named the unsung heroes of the season.

NEXT UP
The final game, here we come! Next weekend, the teams are off to Surrey to compete against Unity FC. The ladies go at 2 PM at Cloverdale Athletic Park and the men go at 4:30 PM.
Thanks again for a great season of support - see you next year at Q’unq’inuqwstuxw!
United!
