What will the second half of the season have in store for our squads? Nanaimo has played each of the other 8 teams in the league and are ready to face them again. With 8 weeks of games under their belts, they are equipped with the necessary ingredients to cook up a storm. They’ve studied their opponents’ plays, they’ve formed a tight bond after countless training sessions together, and they are ready to put on the red and gold for you and each other. Here we go!

This weekend’s opponent: Altitude FC. Will our women topple another undefeated team? Altitude’s women’s team is leading the league and sits at the top of the table, but our ladies are familiar with dethroning powerhouses. Captain Kate Reynolds commented on the how the gals are feeling about this weekend:
I’m pretty excited to play Altitude again - we gave them a great first half last time we played them and we’re looking to build on that this weekend. I think we all want a bounce back weekend after playing Vancouver Rise and not having our best showing. We’ve been dealing with a few injuries recently but so far the season has been super fun! I’m excited to see what the second half brings!

Each game, the men’s team continues to build in strength and were looking deadly in their recent game against the Whitecaps. Will they take this momentum and secure a win this weekend? Here’s what captain Fergus Hall has to say:
We’re working hard in training and are eager to get back on the field this weekend to put things right. We’re just taking things one game at a time. Our goal is to get three points this weekend and move from there.

The women’s game starts at 1 PM and the men go at 3:30 PM. With all our spring youth programs coming to a close this Saturday, it’s going to be a party at Q’unq’inuqwstuxw! A true celebration of great soccer in Nanaimo. Come on down and get some hotdogs and beer!

Keep an eye on our socials! New limited edition NUFC scarves and hats have arrived and will be available for purchase at the games. We’ll be posting a preview of them tonight.

See you at the stadium! United!
